Simple Compass App is Ready for Download

Sorry for late update. I am busy studying a electronic class and building simple circuits recently. All those electronic components are very interesting with their own personalities and functions like resistor, capacitor, diode, transistor, LED. It is fascinating that the combined components can do so many different tasks.

Back to the app development : ), the Simple Compass App is ready at Google Play for download:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=krasivei.apps.simplecompass

It is a simple compass with the electromagnetic field strength displayed. The background electromagnetic field strength around us should be ~40 - 60 uT. If it exceeds that range, the compass app will probably not functioning correctly. Besides, the app provide some educational information regarding electromagnetism on the Earth.

Project for Feb - Mar 2013

I am interested in Physics phenomena recently, especially in magnetic field, electricity and energy conversion. I am working on a Simple Compass App for Feb - Mar 2013. There are a series of sensor for android phones such as magnetic field, gyroscope, gravity, etc. For detail description, please refer to Sensors Overview.

Besides that, I would like to build up a simple physical model  for experiencing energy conversion. Let's see if I can make it and post it here to show you: ) ...

Where Are You, the Idea?

After the Kids Drag Game, I was taking a short break in creating Android apps and was looking for good ideas to code for... But unluckily, not much interesting insights come to me. T_T

I was going out with my girl friend and little scooter during this short break. It is relaxing : ) I will come to the World of Android Apps Design in Feb again... though the theme is still not fixed and clear yet. I would like to make an app to help solve problems people face...still no idea of what it is ... Idea, please come!!

Kids Drag Finally Comes..

The Kids Drag mini game app for kids finally was done. Kids Drag is a simple drag-and-drop matching game. Once kids drag the colorful icons to the corresponding dark ones, words will be spoken out. Kids learn the drag-and-drop action of mobile devices and pronounciation through this interactive action.

Targeted ages of kids: 2 - 8 years old

Idea of the game: From my 3-year-old cousin who likes to play the I-phone :p. I wish to create a simple game in Android so that she can play with it and it comes out this mini game.

This is my first game app using Andengine to code. Feel free to give me comments : ).

Struggling and Vacation..

I am still struggling through the coding of the kids mini game. The progress is a bit left behind. I have to postpone the deadline to Dec 2012. Hope I can make it done in Dec although I have planned a vacation to Taipei and Yilan. : P Taiwan , I am coming...

During these days, I collected some feedback and recommendations for the Dictionary app and Parking app. I would like to summarize up here so that I can view and decide what to improve in the next version.

For the Dictionary app:
- English > Chinese dictionary is not accurate.
- the CE-Dict has a newer source

For the Parking app:
- some parking position is missing in the app
- better to include the street view
- better to allow personal editing of parking info

Thanks for your opinions and using the apps. I will keep improving them : )

Project for Sep - Nov 2012

My Chinese-English Dictionary App has exceeded 1000 downloads in one month!! Compared with the motorbike app, the number of downloads is growing much faster. One main reason is that motorbike app is a localized app for Hong Kong motorbikers while the dict app targets for foreigners who are learning Chinese. The number of potential users is much more for the dict than the bike app. Some app users suggested excellent ideas to the bike app. Thanks for that!! Sorry for that I still have no time to enhance the bike app now because I started another project which consumes my programming energy..

For Sep-Nov, I am trying to write a simple game app for kids using the ANDENGINE, which is a free android game engine developed by Nicolas Gramlich. In my idea, it is a very simple game with drag and drop functions for kids to learn. I would like to make it simple but FUN : ). It is hard because except coding, I have to deal with images and audio.  I would like to add some new features which outside apps still do not have....and am ... brain storming ... : p.

My Chinese-English Dictionary App

My Chinese-English Dictionary App

MyCEDict is a Chinese-English Dictionary. There are 2 main functions, the dictionary powered by CC-CEDict and the translation powered by MyMemory. You can search with Chinese characters (both traditional and simplified), pinyin, english or using voice recognition. In case you want to translate a whole sentence, choose the translation tab and input the whole sentence. It is bi-directional, that means you can translate Chinese-English or English-Chinese. It would be better if you use written form rather than spoken form. e.g. use "I have had lunch" rather than "I've had lunch". Furthermore, you can jot notes by copy and paste into My Notes.

Number of vocabs: ~10,3000 Chinese vocabs.
Source of dictionary database: CC-CEDict (http://cc-cedict.org)
Source of translation API: MyMemory (http://mymemory.translated.net)
Thanks Cheong for database consultancy.
